I was talking to my husband about my frustrations with the reporting of the Ft. Hood tragedy. Everyone is so quick to rush to judgement, not of the crazy that committed the crime, but "how could we have missed this?" We didn't miss it...he was investigated for "research" he was doing, but the investigators concluded that his research was justified based on his job. I would guess that conclusion was arrived at because the investigators didn't want to judge this person based on his religious beliefs, because that would not be the politically correct thing to do.

The same people who holler and scream at the top of their lungs that we must not stereotype people and judge them for their religion stand in judgment after the fact because they just can't understand how we could have missed something so obvious. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!

I think the reason GW was so reviled is that he took a stand and said, look, some people hate us because of who we are and what we stand for. I will not tolerate that.

Everyone in the US really enjoys our freedom, safety and security. But I think we fail to realize those things come at a price. That price may be that we take a harder look at people and groups we know for a fact hate us.

I for one am tired of the price being unwitting victims right here on our own soil.

Well, wait till she asks you to go to the store for "girly things" and your daughter yells out, "you know, Dad, the ones with pearls!"
Scotty knew the girls brand and proudfully went to Tom Thumb each time they asked. I must have been at work or somewhere else. Now, these memories give a great source for laughs.

Poor, poor Fat Tom! Rule #1 for all married men, it doesn't matter if they are cookies, enchiladas, or $100 bills, always, stressing always, save 1 for your wife. Points garnered can be used at a later date. Rule #2 never ever make up anything for said wife to use, especially if it relates to her being even a little inferior, your points collected by obeying rule #1 will disappear in a flash. Finally rule #3, not sure if it is biblical, possibly not, but " though shalt always honor her relatives, your in-laws" Other than the few flaws in this blog, I love it

    #1 LOVE the blog
#2 Haven't gotten to it in a LONG time, soooo sorry.
#3 We sooooo went through what you are going through now. God was telling us to move and we said, "ummmm, okay". Then, when the job, home, schools were set He said, "stay". We found that all of the reasons we were moving (besides the obvious financial benefit) were NOT reasons to move. We were looking for closer friends ships - not CA acquaintances, we were looking to get more connected with each other and others like us, we wanted a good family atmosphere for our kids, etc..etc... Well, God started putting people in our lives HERE that we needed. Some of them had always been there. He just opened our eyes. We went from treating others the way they treat us (in the regular CA way) to BEING that friend, husband, wife, mother, father, that we were looking for. CA has sooo much to offer. It's changing the way of thinking that it's better somewhere else. Now, it might be. But if your heart isn't in to looking at all the amazing people and experiences here you are missing out. It's a choice. I think that your family is FANTASTIC and you will thrive where-ever you are. It's just making the choice to CHANGE your view of where-ever you are. Can you get REALLY involved in a church here? Yes, it's just finding the right one, or way. Can you be in a great Men's group here? Yes, it's just finding the right group. Have time for family? YES, it's making the decision to. Our there couples groups, yes. are there a TON of amazing things to do with your family, yes...ETc...etc...etc... It's stepping out of the box when you don't feel safe and confident. I think that is when God truely blesses us for not wasting what he has given.
    Okay, off the soapbox. LOLOL

I love the idea. You need to be very humble and open to admit your wrongs. That would be very difficult. I don't think the sister-in-laws would be fighting over anything.

My immediate family doesn't really need to do this, but extended I don't see being able to. Good Luck! I think if you all could get to do this truthfully it would be amazing!

PS: Thank you for at least letting me know that although I might still be in the Twilight Zone, at least I'm not in THAT episode (maybe it is the one where the guy keeps getting called by the slot machine "Franklin, Franklinnnn," because at night I hear my fridge calling me "Tom, Tommmm....."

I was searching for Lou Baum's phone # to call them so they could go next door and tell my parents to turn on their cell phone, because the land line is down. My dad had surgery today and I wanted to know if he is ok.

But back to Lou, I grew up next door to the Baums. They are wonderful folks. What you did not mention is his wife has MS and is wheel chair bound. Lou is white headed and has the firm hand shake you imagine. Catherine was a flower girl in my wedding 14 yrs ago. I watcher her after school to give the Baum's a break. That medicine she has to have is bitter beyond belief. I tasted it, wanted to know what I was making her drink before she could leave the table when she was 6. I hope some folks helped out The World Life Foundation. Well back to looking for the Baum's home phone number. - Meg in Frisco TX

I was really worried when I started reading this post...do I really want to know this much information about Tom Stafford? Why didn't Stacey tell me about this? Then I realized, NO I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THIS MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT TOM STAFFORD!!!! So I stopped reading and prayed that God could take the horrible image out of my head.

Just kidding...I like how you pulled the reader in with a very interesting story..."is he or isn't he?" and then made it relevant to all of us.

    Good job.
